Glossary Term
Prop
In escape rooms, a prop is any physical object placed within the room. Props fall into three categories: decorative (set dressing that builds atmosphere but isn't interactive), red herrings (items that look important but aren't part of any puzzle), and functional (objects that are essential to solving a puzzle or advancing the story). High-quality escape rooms use props that blur these lines — a seemingly decorative painting might hide a secret compartment, or an old book might contain a crucial cipher. At Escape Hour, every prop is handcrafted and placed with intention, contributing to both the aesthetic and the gameplay of each experience.
